The Inuka Solar System is a medium-scale, grid-tied solar energy project installed at the Inuka Rehabilitation Center in Tanzania. The center is one of the largest facilities in the country dedicated to supporting children with disabilities, and the system was designed to improve access to affordable and reliable electricity for daily operations.
With an installed capacity of approximately 60 kWp, the solar system supplies clean energy directly to the facility, reducing reliance on grid electricity and supporting essential services throughout the day.
The project was among the team’s early grid-tied solar installations in Tanzania and was designed in line with local regulations that do not allow excess solar power to be fed back into the national grid. As a result, the system was optimized to maximize daytime solar usage while minimizing grid dependency.
The Inuka Solar System demonstrates how institutional facilities can significantly reduce electricity costs and improve energy efficiency by utilizing solar power during peak daytime consumption periods.
